I will be in attendance at this year’s Small Press Expo this weekend. Unlike all previous years I’ve attended, I’m not going to be chained to my own table, I’m almost going just to enjoy checking out things, socialize, and hit up some panel discussions. I say “almost” as I intend on filing a report (well, a copy of a report) on my experiences to mark the tenth installment of my “Comics Round Up,” blog series, making a more expansive travelogue bit of “journalism” for the nice round number.
AND, I’ve got two anthologies that include my work debuting at this event. J.T. Yost’s ”Digestate” food themed book, for which I am scheduled to be at the Birdcage Bottom Books table (H13) signing on Sunday, 3-4PM. Also, merciless Mark Rudolph’s ”Satan Is Alive!” tribute to the metal band, Mercyful Fate, on his CV Comics imoprint (Mark can be found here: C12, C13B).
Last but not least, I’m traveling by way of Columbus, Ohio with one of my favorite humans, Caitlin McGurk, comics librarian to the known universe and beyond.
Besides new stuff available from Yost and Rudolph, I’ll be toting around some copies of old books if anybody wants to track me down for a trade and/or shoot the proverbial. Find me.
(the photo above is of Tom Neely and myself representing ourselves and Sparkplug Comics at last year’s SPX. Sadly, this SPX marks the year anniversary of Dylan Williams’s death. That news was received the night before this photo was taken. Trust me that the smiles in the above shot are ironic, unfortunately)
